Bob's Flower and Hive Report

February 2015 Meeting

Hive Report

Flight activity is low right now. Check bee hives for brood. If you do not have brood, your hive is Queen less. The cold weather may have chilled some of the brood on the outer part of the cluster when the bees condensed for warmth.

Remove entrance reducers now. Mice are not a problem this time of year. You should reverse your brood boxes when the weather warms up within the next 2 weeks if your hive has two brood boxes, as long as the cluster is not divided between the boxes.

Continue to feed fondant.

Moisture from the snow is good for the honey flow.
